Article 2. On entering, as well as leaving, it is necessary to greet everyone in the fencing salle by shaking hands and introducing yourselves to newcomers.
Article 3. Absolutely no cellphones, video games and smoking are permitted in the fencing salle. If you must use a cellphone, set it to silently take messages, check them during a break, and take your conversation outside.
Article 4. During the lesson, bystanders and fencers must conduct themselves in a manner that will not prevent the student from hearing the Master's voice.
Article 5. It is prohibited to exercise or play with arms contained in the salle without a protective jacket, glove, and mask appropriate to the weapon in use, in order to avoid accidents.
Article 6. Any and all accidents are to be reported immediately to the Master.

Obligations of the Students
Article 1. Every student shall provide themself with long workout pants or fencing knickers, water, a towel, and appropriate equipment, as stated in Article 5 above--clean and in good repair--and, must provide their own equipment, or rent club equipment once they have completed Beginning Fencing I & II.
Article 2. Students must attend all classes when entering the beginners program and when enrolled in an intermediate or advanced group class; your fellow students rely on your presence as a partner during the lesson. An absence must be made up the week of the occurrence by making arrangements for a private make-up lesson in SLO for a fee of $25.00. Missing two classes can result in suspension from the class with no refund of fees.
Article 3. The students' obligation is to be punctual and pay their fees on time. The Master's, to be punctual, offer quality instruction and be available for his students.
Article 4. Students are to maintain attention, focus, and actively listen during the lesson. Leaving the lesson without permission will end that student's lesson.
Article 5. The language of fencing is through steel, the blade. During the lesson, please hold your questions until asked, or, by raising your hand and being acknowledged.
Article 6. Anyone wishing to take an individual lesson must indicate so when signing in and enter the appropriate mark, "P", and is on a first come, first served basis.
Article 7. Anyone wishing to take Private fencing lessons must contact the Master to arrange the day, hour and monthly fee.
Article 8. Students may free fence only if the Master, knowing their ability, gives them permission.
Article 9. It is the obligation of the students themselves, when fencing, to observe from time to time, whether or not the point of the weapon is covered with a rubber or plastic button if fencing dry, otherwise they must abstain in order to avoid accidents.
Article 10. It is absolutely obligatory when fencing dry, that every time one is hit, to announce the touch, saying touche or touch.
Article 11. During fencing, if one of the two fencers is by chance disarmed, and their weapon drops, the other, regardless of their rank, must pick it up and hand it to their adversary by the guard, in order to avoid any idea of haughtiness.
Article 12. If it occurs that the Master breaks one or more sword or sabre blades in the lesson or assault when training his students, it is their obligation to pay for the broken blades. Equally, if not as an obligation, at least out of courtesy, it is established custom that when a guest or anyone not of the fencing club breaks his blade that his host pays for it, and when two students fence and break blades, one does not search for the reason why they are broken, but the damage is always at the expense of the individual left holding the broken weapon.
Article 13. Any fencer's action which would, under the normal application of USFA and FIE rules, result in the issuance of a "black card," will be banned from Salle de Fers Fencing Club.

Final Article.
We are together to learn, explore, laugh, have serious fun, to have an honest
encounter with another; to become better human beings.
To this end, we pledge ourselves to each other.
